Happy New Year!

Here is the happy band of Historians who braved the walk around Elford on 29th Dec. This was organised by Keith and Eileen Day who, remarkably, managed to pick virtually the only sunny day in December. Afterwards we repaired to Roger and Val Price's for mulled wine and nibbles, and were joined by more non-walking Historians. Much appreciated by all.

New Kings Bromley road name commemorates the Newton family and All Saints Church

Lichfield District Council has notified the Parish Council that the two new roads being constructed on the Lichfield Road are to be called Newton Lane and All Saints Lane. The Parish Council suggested the name Newton Lane based on the following considerations:
We are suggesting Newton Lane to commemorate the Newton family (and also one of the Lanes):

A Historical Christmas 2015.

At our annual dinner, held at The Forresters, Allan Howard, Leader of the Historians,  reviewed the year and looked forward to the next. This year we have published 'Hark Back' - a transcription of interviews with villagers made around 1980, and 'The Life and Times of Agnes, the Little Queen of Kings Bromley' as well as having had trips to Avoncroft and Boscobel and a series of interesting speakers. Our big project was the construction and funding of our new archive in the Village Hall. This is near completion, and we hope to open it in the New Year.
